Karat Celebrates 50 Years with New Album and Extensive Tour

Karat, one of Germany's most successful rock bands, is commemorating its 50th anniversary with the release of a new album titled 'Hohe Himmel' and an extensive tour across the country.
The band, originally formed in East Berlin in 1975, has faced numerous challenges, including lineup changes, the death of founding member Herbert Dreilich, and legal disputes over the use of their name.
Their latest album revisits the band's classic 1980s sound, featuring live-recorded instrumentation and lyrics focusing on human strengths, weaknesses, and universal themes.
Karat's legacy includes their iconic hit 'Über sieben Brücken musst du gehn,' which gained fame in both East and West Germany, with notable covers by artists like Peter Maffay and Helene Fischer.
The current lineup, featuring long-time guitarist Bernd Römer and new members, emphasizes a mix of timeless hits and new material in their live performances, with nearly 60 concerts scheduled for 2025.
