Kara Swisher Seeks Early Exit From CNN Over Expected Ellison Ownership

Overview

• Swisher told her agent this week that she wants to leave CNN as soon as an early release can be negotiated.
• On her Pivot podcast she said she would not work for the new owners, saying, “I thought, f*** these guys,” to explain her decision.
• Her on-air contributor contract formally runs through December 31, 2026, but she has publicly asked to be released early.
• Page Six published anonymous ‘chatter’ linking her rush to leave to a past relationship with Nellie Bowles, a claim Swisher rebuked on Threads and said is not the reason for her exit.
• The move follows news that David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance is expected to take control of CNN, a change that industry observers warn could prompt more talent departures and alter newsroom governance.
