Kanye West Settles Donda Academy Lawsuits Ahead of Trial

The settlement resolves wrongful termination and unpaid wages claims brought by former employees of the now-closed private school.

Kanye West, legally known as Ye, has reached conditional settlements with former Donda Academy employees, resolving lawsuits filed in 2023 over wrongful termination and unpaid wages.
The plaintiffs, including former assistant principal Isaiah Meadows and teachers Cecilia Hailey, Chekarey Byers, and Timanii Meeks, alleged unsafe working conditions, discrimination, and violations of Department of Education requirements at the school.
Donda Academy, a private Christian school founded by West in 2022 and named after his late mother, faced significant backlash and closures following the rapper's controversial public behavior and antisemitic remarks.
Specific allegations in the lawsuits included health and safety issues, improper payment practices, and bizarre rules, such as banning chairs and utensils and requiring students to eat sushi on the floor.
West has 45 days to fulfill his obligations under the settlement, after which the plaintiffs will formally request dismissal of the lawsuits in Los Angeles Superior Court.
