Overview

  • The pilgrimage launched on July 11, mobilizing about 4 crore devotees along 840 routes spanning 12,535 km to 4,556 Shiva temples.
  • Uttar Pradesh Police deployed thousands of officers—including RAF, Quick Response Teams, ATS units and home guards—backed by drones and CCTV cameras for continuous surveillance.
  • A multi-state WhatsApp group and coordination meetings with Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan officials support real-time border vigilance and emergency response.
  • Traffic restrictions and diversions on goods vehicles are in effect until July 25, rerouting them via the Noida-Greater Noida and Eastern Peripheral expressways while dedicating lanes for pilgrims and exempting essential services.
  • Late on July 10 in Modinagar, Kanwariyas vandalized a car and assaulted its intoxicated driver after it allegedly brushed against a pilgrim; the driver was booked under Section 170 of the BNSS and pilgrims were allowed to proceed.
