Kansas Father Shoots Wife During Elementary School Drop-Off

A domestic dispute outside Cessna Elementary School in Wichita led to a shooting that injured both parents, prompting a school lockdown.

The incident occurred at around 9:15 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, outside Cessna Elementary School in Wichita, Kansas.
Witnesses reported that the couple, who arrived via a Lyft ride, were arguing before the husband shot his wife in the chest.
The wife ran toward the school for help, and the husband was holding a gun to her head when law enforcement arrived.
A deputy shot the suspect after he momentarily stepped away from the victim; both were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The school was placed on lockdown, but no students, teachers, or staff were harmed, and the community was assured there was no active shooter threat.
