Royals Commit Over $100 Million in Free Agency to Boost Performance in AL Central

Kansas City Royals sign right-hander Michael Wacha to a two-year, $32 million contract with a player option after the first season.
Wacha posted a 14-4 record and 3.22 ERA in his lone season with the San Diego Padres in 2023.
Royals also sign outfielder Hunter Renfroe to a $13 million, two-year contract.
Royals have been one of the league’s most active teams in free agency, committing $105 million in free agent dollars across six players this offseason.
Royals' general manager J.J. Picollo states that the team is making significant moves to compete in the AL Central next season.
