Kamchatka Logs Nine Aftershocks Up to M5.8 as Pacific Rim Sees Fresh Quakes

  • Japan’s meteorological agency recorded a M6.5 off the northeast coast with a very shallow focus and maximum intensity 4, with light shaking in Tokyo and no reports of damage.
  • EMSC logged a M5.6 about 127 km east of Miyako, USGS reported a M5.7 in the Gulf of California, and a M4.8 struck near Iturup in the southern Kurils, with no tsunami alert for the Kurils and no damage reports across these events.
