Overview

• The six unopposed Rajya Sabha nominees are Kamal Haasan for MNM, P. Wilson, Salma and S.R. Sivalingam for DMK, and I.S. Inbadurai and M. Dhanapal for AIADMK.
• Returning Officer B. Subramaniyam confirmed that 13 nominations were filed, of which six survived scrutiny and faced no withdrawals, leading to their unopposed election.
• All six will begin six-year terms on July 25, 2025, filling seats vacated by members whose tenures end on July 24, 2025.
• This election marks the first Rajya Sabha seat for Makkal Needhi Maiam under an agreement for its support during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
