Overview

  • The Kalyan RTO has issued a seven-day notice to the private school’s principal and seized the vehicle for failing to comply with safety regulations.
  • Authorities confirmed the van’s rear door lock was unsecured and overcrowding on the Kalyan-Badlapur Road led to two nursery students falling onto the asphalt.
  • Driver Solomon Sakappa and caretakers Usha Balid and Kavita Sunil Jadhav were booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act for negligence and endangering children.
  • Medical teams treated the injured children at a local hospital, from which they were discharged after first-aid care.
  • The RTO plans district-wide inspections of all student-transport vehicles and will deactivate registrations for any that fail to meet School Bus Rules 2011 standards.
