Overview
- Curated by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh, the festival brings together ten dance institutions to present new choreographies rooted in classical traditions.
- The opening production, Amruth-Manthan, was conceptualised, choreographed and directed by Dr. Mansingh and depicted the churning of the cosmic ocean with a message of righteousness prevailing.
- The Department of Art, Culture & Languages of the Delhi government is presenting the event with the Centre for Indian Classical Dances, framing it as part of a push to strengthen Delhi’s cultural profile.
- Senior officials and prominent artists, including Uma Sharma, Malini Awasthi, Geeta Chandran, Wasifuddin Dagar and Sharon Lowen, attended the inauguration at a packed Kamani Auditorium.
- Performances continue on January 14, 15, 28 and 29 from 6:30 pm with free entry on a first-come basis, and attendees are advised to be seated by 6:15 pm.
