Noninvasive Prenatal Testing Misunderstanding Led to Initial Announcement of Twin Boys

Kailyn Lowry, the 'Teen Mom 2' alum, initially thought she was having twin boys due to a misunderstanding of the noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) results.
The NIPT results showed XY chromosomes, leading Lowry and her boyfriend, Elijah Scott, to believe they were having boys. However, in the case of fraternal twins, if one is a girl and the other a boy, only the boy chromosomes will show up in the test.
Lowry and Scott discovered the truth during their 20-week anatomy scan, which confirmed they were having a boy and a girl.
Lowry had to 're-do' her original smoke bomb sex reveal after one of the smoke bombs — the pink one — didn’t 'go off'.
This will be Lowry's first daughter, adding to her family of five sons from multiple relationships.
