Kahlil Joseph's 'BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions' Reinstated for Sundance Premiere

The experimental film, initially pulled due to a financier dispute, will debut after being acquired by a new backer.

BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, directed by Kahlil Joseph, was reinstated to the Sundance lineup after being pulled by its original financier, Participant Media.
James Shani’s Rich Spirit and BN Media acquired the film, purchasing all rights from Participant, which had ceased operations as a film studio last year.
Participant alleged that Joseph submitted an unauthorized cut of the film to festivals, a claim the filmmaker denied, clarifying it was a polished version of the original submission.
The film, blending fiction and non-fiction, expands on Joseph’s 2019 art exhibition and will premiere Monday, January 27, at the Egyptian Theater in Sundance’s NEXT program.
Joseph and producer Onye Anyanwu expressed gratitude to Participant for relinquishing ownership, allowing the long-awaited project to reach audiences.
