Kagiso Rabada cleared to spearhead South Africa pace attack in Lord's WTC final

After serving a one-month ban for recreational drug use, he returns to cricket with full clearance from SAIDS ahead of the World Test Championship final at Lord's.

Overview

  • Rabada tested positive for a recreational drug during the SA20 competition in January and voluntarily left the IPL to serve a one-month suspension in April.
  • He completed an education and awareness programme mandated by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport and received full clearance to resume professional play.
  • Rabada apologised to teammates and supporters for letting them down but said he would not over-apologise as he focuses on moving forward.
  • He has rejoined the Gujarat Titans in the IPL and openly discussed the incident with South Africa’s squad to repair any strains within the team.
