K. Murali Named Director of Defence Electronics Research Laboratory
His leadership will focus on integrating cyber capabilities with electronic warfare systems
Overview
- K. Murali took charge as director of DLRL on July 1, succeeding N. Srinivas Rao who retired on June 30, 2025.
- The Hyderabad-based lab has supplied integrated electronic warfare systems to India’s Army, Navy and Air Force for over sixty years.
- Murali holds a BSc from Osmania University (1988) and an MSc in computer science engineering from the University of Mysore (1990) and joined DRDO’s DLRL as Scientist–B in 1991.
- Over three decades at DLRL he has led the design, development, production and deployment of electronic warfare systems, RF seekers and counter-drone solutions and coordinated research collaborations with academic and industry partners.
- He is set to spearhead the lab’s next phase, focusing on cyber-electronic warfare integration, unmanned defence systems and AI-driven threat response.
