Juvenile Coyote Rescued from Flooded San Diego Field

Animal, initially mistaken for a dog, was found with a bucket stuck on its head and is now recovering at a wildlife center.

  • A juvenile male coyote was rescued from a flooded field in San Diego with a bucket stuck on its head.
  • The San Diego Humane Society's Law Enforcement officers initially thought the animal was a dog.
  • City lifeguards assisted in the rescue due to the difficult terrain, reaching the animal by boat.
  • The coyote was treated at the Bahde Wildlife Center, where the bucket was removed from its head and it received medical care for mild hypothermia, cactus spines in its fur, and wounds.
  • The coyote was then transferred to the Ramona Wildlife Center for further rehabilitation, with hopes of returning it to the wild soon.
