Jussie Smollett in Rehab for Mental Health Following Early Release From Jail, Rep Says

Jussie Smollett has entered an outpatient rehab treatment facility after a challenging few years marked by legal troubles and public strife.
Smollett, once a star on the TV series 'Empire', was found guilty on five counts of felony disorderly conduct for staging a hate crime and lying to the police about it in 2019.
Despite his difficult past years and legal battles, Smollett has not remained entirely out of the public eye. He has attended red carpet events and even made his directorial debut at the Atlanta Black Pride Weekend Film Festival.
Less than a week after being sentenced to 150 days in jail and 30 months felony probation, Smollett was released from Cook County jail in Chicago after the Illinois Appellate Court granted an appeal from his legal team.
Although it is not fully clear what Smollett's rehab treatment is targeting, drug use was frequently mentioned throughout his trial and may be a factor in his current rehabilitation.
