Overview

• Darnell L. Rhodes, 34, was found guilty of aggravated kidnapping inflicting great bodily harm, a Class X felony, by a Kane County jury.
• Prosecutors say Rhodes and two others forced a woman into a vehicle at knifepoint, drove her to a home, bound her with electrical cords, and beat and stabbed her.
• The victim suffered multiple stab wounds, fractures, and blunt-force injuries that left both eyes swollen shut, and she is still recovering.
• Co-defendant Roger A. Heaps pleaded guilty to armed violence in January 2024 and received a 20-year state prison sentence.
• Lloyd D. Hayes Jr. faces 11 felony counts including attempted murder with a Sept. 12 court date, and Rhodes remains in the Kane County jail pending Sept. 25 sentencing.
