Overview
- Jurors at Southampton Crown Court returned a 10–2 majority verdict on one count of stalking and cleared Brandt of the more serious charge alleging serious alarm or distress.
- Prosecutors said he sent at least 17 emails and three phone messages and visited Mordaunt’s Portsmouth office out of hours between 11 September 2023 and 12 May 2024.
- Brandt breached a conditional caution issued in April 2024 and was later placed under an interim stalking protection order on 16 July 2024 at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court.
- Mordaunt told police she feared sexual violence and described the conduct as creepy, and her office increased security in response.
- Judge William Mousley KC released Brandt on conditional bail pending the pre-sentence report and the January sentencing hearing.
