Overview
- Heavy monsoon rains in the Krishna basin and upstream releases from Karnataka dams drove inflows at Priyadarshini Jurala Project to 99,000 cusecs by May 29
- Jurala’s reservoir storage climbed to 8.57 tmc ft against a full level of 9.6 tmc ft, prompting operators to open multiple spillway gates
- Spillway discharge was increased to 83,600 cusecs to manage rising floodwaters in the Jogulamba-Gadwal district
- Upstream reservoirs at Narayanpur, Tungabhadra and Almatti released significant flows of 1,000, 7,800 and 60,400 cusecs respectively, further swelling downstream levels
- Krishna River Management Board is coordinating with officials from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to monitor flows and adjust dam releases
