Junts Denies Díaz–Puigdemont Contact, Says No Talks on Workweek Cut

The denial lands days before a congressional vote that could sink Yolanda Díaz’s 37.5‑hour workweek plan.

Overview

  • Jordi Turull said there have been no negotiations with the Ministry of Labour on reducing the working week and said it does not appear that Yolanda Díaz has spoken with Carles Puigdemont.
  • Turull added that he and Junts’ congressional spokeswoman, Míriam Nogueras, remain in regular contact with the Spanish government despite rejecting claims of a Puigdemont–Díaz channel.
  • Junts maintains its July position, calling the proposal a campaign slogan and demanding a sober debate and a return to formal social dialogue before considering changes.
  • A vote on total vetoes is set for Wednesday, and PP, Vox and Junts have each filed motions that together could block the bill; Junts intends to oppose, according to party sources cited by El Mundo.
  • Turull criticized Salvador Illa’s stance on amnesty and accused senior judges of blocking Puigdemont’s return, and he dismissed any rapprochement with the PP, citing its push against Catalan’s recognition in EU institutions.
