June Auto Wholesales Diverge as Mass-Market Cars Slip and SUVs, EVs Gain

Overview

  • Maruti Suzuki India’s domestic wholesales sank 12% to 130,000 units in June, driving its total sales down 6% year-on-year to 168,000 units.
  • Hyundai Motor India reported a 12% decline in domestic dispatches to 44,024 units, and Tata Motors saw home market sales fall 12% to 65,019 units.
  • Mahindra & Mahindra achieved a 14% rise in total June wholesales to 78,969 units, powered by an 18% jump in domestic utility vehicle sales to 47,306 units.
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s dispatches climbed 5% to 28,869 units, while MG Motor India posted a 21% gain with 5,829 units sold in June.
  • TVS Motor led electric two-wheeler sales with 23,472 units for a 25% market share and recorded 20% overall June growth, and Bajaj Auto’s total volumes edged up 1% to 360,806 units.
