July's Full 'Buck Moon' to Illuminate the Night Sky This Weekend

The Buck Moon, named for the growth of deer antlers, will reach peak illumination early Sunday morning.

The Buck Moon will be at its fullest at 6:17 a.m. EDT on Sunday, July 21.
This full moon is also known as the Thunder Moon and the Hay Moon.
It marks the last regular full moon before four consecutive supermoons starting in August.
The Perseid meteor shower begins this week, peaking on August 12 with up to 200 meteors per hour.
