Overview
- SSA will distribute July retirement payments in three waves: July 9 for birthdays through the 10th, July 16 for the 11th–20th and July 23 for the 21st–31st.
- Retirees can receive a maximum of $2,831 per month at age 62, $4,018 at full retirement age and $5,108 at age 70.
- SSI recipients will get up to $967 per individual, $1,450 for couples and $484 for essential caregivers when August payments arrive at the start of next month.
- SSI payments have risen 2.5 percent since January and are aimed at low-income beneficiaries who are blind, elderly or disabled.
- Around July 24, the SSA will begin halving monthly Social Security checks until it recovers nearly $72 billion in improper payments.
