• On July 2, the Golden State Valkyries waived guards Julie Vanloo and Bree Hall along with forward Chloe Bibby to make room for EuroBasket returnees Cecilia Zandalasini and Janelle Salaün.
• Vanloo was informed of her release in person at San Francisco International Airport after an 18-hour flight home from Belgium, causing her to miss her national team’s championship celebration.
• Head coach Natalie Nakase described the cuts as “heartbreaking” and said face-to-face notification was a respectful way to handle the news.
• The Valkyries have solidified rookie Kaitlyn Chen as their backup point guard after her defensive consistency and ball-handling in late June.
• After clearing waivers on July 3, Vanloo signed with the Los Angeles Sparks, where coach Lynne Roberts said she will bolster the backcourt with shooting and competitiveness.
