Jukai Studio, the developer behind the horror game Stray Souls, has announced its closure, citing poor sales, cyberbullying, and the closure of its publisher, Versus Evil.
Jukai Studio claims that a 'cyber prosecutor' relentlessly attacked the developer and the publisher Versus Evil staff, even sending unwanted messages to community members.
Stray Souls, the studio’s debut project, launched on October 25 to scathing reviews on Metacritic and OpenCritic.
Versus Evil, the publisher of Stray Souls and other indie games like The Banner Saga and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, also announced its closure.
Despite the closure, Jukai Studio stated that it wouldn't abandon the issue of cyberbullying and has handed the matter over to its lawyers.
