Jujuy Court Sentences Lucas Farfán to Life for the Femicide of Florencia Sayes

The panel imposed the maximum penalty under an abbreviated proceeding that applied Argentina’s femicide aggravators.

Overview

  • Judges María Alejandra Tolaba, Carolina Pérez Rojas and Martín de Athayde Moncorvo delivered the sentence after the final hearing in San Salvador de Jujuy.
  • Farfán, 35, was found responsible for aggravated homicide due to the intimate relationship, cruelty and gender-based violence.
  • The ruling followed a juicio abreviado in which responsibility had already been established and a subsequent hearing fixed the penalty.
  • Sayes, 31, was fatally attacked with a knife on September 28, 2024, at a rented housing complex in Loteo Bárcena before the assailant fled.
  • Police later detained Farfán on Carlos Gardel Avenue and initial custody was at the Brigada de Investigaciones, as prosecutors, victim advocates and the defense took part in the case.
