Judge Upholds Conviction of 'Rust' Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed

Gutierrez-Reed's request for a new trial was denied despite her attorneys' claims of suppressed evidence similar to that which led to Alec Baldwin's case dismissal.
Judge Sommer ruled that the withheld evidence would not have changed the outcome of Gutierrez-Reed's trial.
Gutierrez-Reed has been serving an 18-month sentence since March 2024 and has a separate appeal pending in a higher court.
The tragic incident on the 'Rust' set in October 2021 resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injury to director Joel Souza.
