The Buenos Aires Supreme Court will now consider a case ruling that the fast-tracked rezoning lacked required environmental studies, public consultation or proper zoning.

Overview

  • Judge Mónica Ayerbe ordered a precautionary injunction suspending Ordinance 6350/24 and halting progress on the Bingo Ramallo relocation to Escobar.
  • The judge cited procedural irregularities, including the absence of environmental impact studies, lack of public hearings and the rezoning of protected residential parcels.
  • The December 2024 ordinance was fast-tracked with unanimous support from PRO, Unión por la Patria and local factions to rezone residential land in Ingeniero Maschwitz for a mega-bingo complex.
  • Neighbors and civil associations sued the municipality, arguing the ordinance violated land-use protections and bypassed constitutional rights to environmental information and public consultation.
  • Plans for Daniel Angelici to sell his 25% stake in Bingo Ramallo to Fabio Fernández remain in limbo pending the Buenos Aires Supreme Court’s decision.
