Judge Sets 2026 Trial in Billingham Child Death as Separate Teesside Inquiries Continue

Police say the three Teesside child deaths are separate.

Overview

  • Louise Cameron, 40, appeared at Teesside Crown Court where a judge listed a trial for February 23, 2026, with a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 6.
  • Cameron is charged with the murder of eight-year-old Rhys Anthony Cameron, following an incident reported from Marsh House Avenue in Billingham on September 15.
  • In a separate Thornaby case, Alexandra Walker, 25, and Harrison Simpson, 21, were remanded to appear at Teesside Crown Court on September 19 after initial magistrates’ hearings.
  • Walker is charged with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child, while Simpson faces charges of rape, murder, and causing or allowing the death of a child following the death of a two-year-old girl.
  • A third investigation concerns a baby who died after being taken to hospital from Thornaby Road; a 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and bailed, and police say this case is not linked to the others.
