Overview
- On Monday a Los Angeles judge ruled there was enough evidence to send David Anthony Burke, known as D4vd, to trial on counts including homicide, continuous sexual abuse of a minor and illegal mutilation of human remains.
- Prosecutors say the alleged sexual relationship began when the victim was 13, included a reported pregnancy, and ended before messages in April 2025 in which the girl threatened to expose the singer.
- Authorities presented digital communications, transactional records they say show online orders of tools, and the victim’s decomposing body found in September 2025 in the trunk of a Tesla linked to Burke.
- Burke has pleaded not guilty and his defense says the case lacks direct witnesses and a recovered murder weapon and disputes that the evidence shows intent to kill.
- A hearing to set trial timing is scheduled for August 31, 2026, and if convicted Burke faces penalties up to life in prison or death while the case continues to draw public attention because of his age and rising music career.
