Judge Orders Resentencing for David DePape After Legal Oversight

DePape, convicted of attacking Paul Pelosi, will have a new hearing after not being allowed to speak before sentencing.

Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley admitted her error in not allowing DePape to speak before his sentencing.
DePape was initially sentenced to 30 years for assaulting Paul Pelosi and 20 years for attempting to kidnap Nancy Pelosi, with sentences to run concurrently.
The new sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 28.
DePape's defense attorneys have filed an appeal following the initial sentencing.
DePape's attack on Paul Pelosi in October 2022 was captured on police body camera and had significant political repercussions.
