Judge Orders CBP Officer Held Without Bond in Alleged 2022 Suburban Hotel Attacks

The judge cited community danger tied to allegations of coercion using a badge plus a gun.

Overview

  • Luis Uribe, 44, was indicted on 10 counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
  • Prosecutors told the court that DNA from hotel bedding, tollway records, and Google Maps searches place Uribe at or near the scenes of the alleged assaults and robberies.
  • The alleged victims were sex workers described in filings as all of Chinese descent, and prosecutors say one woman was attacked three separate times.
  • Uribe, who was assigned primarily to O’Hare International Airport and had been on CBP desk duty, pleaded not guilty last week before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keri Holleb Hotaling ordered him detained.
  • The investigation remains active with a search for additional victims, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office asked anyone with information to call 312-239-7423; a conviction could bring a minimum of seven years in prison and up to life.
