Judge Opens Homicide Case Against Mexico City Officer in Fatal Checkpoint Shooting

The ruling imposes home confinement pending a three-month complementary investigation.

  • Authorities detained the officer who fired, secured his service weapon, and opened criminal file CI-FIEDH/2/UI-1 C/D/00322/08-2025 as the SSC continues an internal inquiry.
  • Amnesty International Mexico called for the investigation to follow the Minnesota Protocol and urged a review of the National Law on the Use of Force.
