Overview

  • Raymond Boodarian, 22, did not enter a plea as a Los Angeles judge suspended proceedings, ordered him held without bail, and set a Sept. 3 hearing in mental health court.
  • Boodarian appeared in court wearing a suicide-prevention gown and did not respond to the judge, and his public defender cited severe mental health issues.
  • Prosecutors have charged him with two counts of murder and residential burglary with special circumstances in the July 10 killings of Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca.
  • Investigators say the couple returned home during an alleged burglary, were shot with a gun from the residence, were found four days later, and Boodarian was arrested the next day.
  • A search-warrant affidavit cites surveillance video showing the suspect entering and leaving the property and a 4:44 p.m. 911 call in which the caller identified himself as Raymond Boodarian and said, “Please don’t shoot me.”
