Overview
- Emergency crews responded around 4:28 a.m. Saturday to a fire and explosion at a home on the 700 block of Hemlock Lane in Carol Stream.
- Authorities allege Eric Neuman, 52, distributed roughly 40 gallons of gasoline through the house and placed two propane tanks in a rental car in the attached garage.
- Investigators say he spilled fuel in the garage, ignited a flare, threw it inside, and drove away.
- Illinois State Police arrested Neuman around 10:35 a.m. in Mahomet after a pursuit that began near the Bloomington/Morton area.
- Neuman is charged with two counts of aggravated arson, one count of arson, and one count of criminal damage to property; no injuries were reported and his next court date is Sept. 22.
