Judge Denies Lil Durk’s Bid to Dismiss Federal Case Over Threat Allegations

The judge said the claimed nondisclosure of threats showed no prejudice to the proceedings.

Overview

  • U.S. District Judge Michael Fitzgerald rejected the defense motion to dismiss, recuse prosecutors, or remove all Central District judges and also denied a request for an evidentiary hearing.
  • The defense cited four threatening voicemails to Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue in February 2025 and one to Assistant U.S. Attorney Ian Yanniello in April, which prosecutors disclosed to the defense in October 2025.
  • Prosecutors denied any tactical withholding, and Judge Fitzgerald called the motion baseless while ruling that an evidentiary hearing would improperly expose work product.
  • The case centers on a 2022 Los Angeles attack that targeted rapper Quando Rondo and killed his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, which prosecutors say was retaliation for King Von’s 2020 killing.
  • Lil Durk has been detained since October 2024 and faces conspiracy charges with five co-defendants, with trial expected to begin in late April 2026 and a potential life sentence if convicted.
