• U.S. Magistrate Judge Valerie Torres ordered Ryan Bennett Segura held without bail, keeping him in federal custody.
• Prosecutors told the court Segura shared nonsexual photos of his students with another man and discussed sexual attraction to the students.
• They also alleged he directed a Colorado man to perform sexual acts on a child and maintained other explicit online relationships, including with a 16-year-old and a man with a public-facing job.
• Segura is charged with distributing images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, a federal count carrying a five-year mandatory minimum and up to 20 years in prison.
• The investigation stemmed from a Denver-area arrest last year, and the FBI says Segura admitted sharing child sexual abuse material and said he stopped viewing it around March 2025.
