Jude Law has confirmed he will play Russian President Vladimir Putin in the upcoming film 'The Wizard of the Kremlin,' directed by Olivier Assayas.
The movie is based on Giuliano da Empoli's best-selling novel and focuses on Putin's early political career following the collapse of the USSR.
Paul Dano stars as Vadim Baranov, a fictional TV producer-turned-advisor who becomes entangled in the propaganda-driven rise of Putin's power.
The cast also includes Alicia Vikander, Zach Galifianakis, and Tom Sturridge, though production and release dates have not yet been announced.
Law described the role as one of his most challenging, likening the preparation to climbing 'an Everest,' as he begins work on the project.
