Overview
- At their July 23 Scarborough Open Air Theatre show, Rob Halford dedicated the song ‘Giants in the Sky’ to Ozzy Osbourne one day after the Black Sabbath singer’s death at age 76 was announced.
- Visual screens during the tribute displayed portraits of Ronnie James Dio, Lemmy, Freddie Mercury, Taylor Hawkins and Christine McVie before closing on two giant images of Osbourne.
- The dedication followed the playing of Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’ over the PA, a longtime prelude to Judas Priest concerts.
- The Scarborough date formed part of Judas Priest’s 35th anniversary Painkiller tour, which featured tracks from 2024’s Invincible Shield alongside classics like ‘Breaking the Law’.
- They will headline London’s O2 Arena a few days later to continue their UK tour.
