Overview

  • Juan Carlos I landed at Vigo’s Peinador Airport on July 10 and was welcomed by longtime friend Pedro Campos, president of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo.
  • He has returned for his fourth sailing visit of 2025 to track the fifth Liga Española de 6 Metros regatta, which serves as the last scoring event for the Trofeo Xacobeo before the New York world championship.
  • Rather than boarding his 6-metre class yacht Bribón, he observed Friday’s races from the auxiliary boat Cristina and helped with the Bribón’s unmooring operations.
  • The Bribón remains a key contender in the regional Trofeo Xacobeo series that underscores Galicia’s enduring sailing traditions.
  • Officials are preparing for Princess Leonor’s arrival in Marín on July 13 and her commissioning as frigate ensign by King Felipe VI at the Escuela Naval de Marín on July 16.
