JSW MG Unveils ADAPT, a Single Platform for EVs, Hybrids, PHEVs and REEVs

The company says the modular architecture will cut development costs by letting one chassis accept four powertrains and speed new-model rollouts.

Overview

  • JSW MG formally revealed the ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) on July 16 and confirmed one battery EV and one plug‑in hybrid will arrive by the end of FY2026‑27.
  • The company describes ADAPT as a multi‑NEV platform that supports pure electric, strong hybrid, plug‑in hybrid and range‑extender layouts on a common modular skateboard chassis.
  • MG says the architecture bundles a dedicated hybrid petrol engine, a dedicated battery system, an India‑first 10‑in‑1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and an electromagnetic dedicated hybrid transmission managed by an Intelligent Energy Management System, though those technical claims await independent testing and full production specs.
  • JSW MG pledged about Rs 1,400 crore for new products and capacity, plans to raise plant output from 120,000 to 160,000 units by March 2027, and will push higher localisation to support pricing and volume goals.
  • Journalists report the first ADAPT cars are likely three‑row SUVs based on Wuling Starlight/Eksion lines and that MG will prioritise an EV followed by a PHEV, but specific model names, exact launch dates and some performance figures remain unconfirmed.
