Overview
- JSW Infrastructure has formalized a Letter of Award from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority for a Rs740 crore project to rebuild and mechanize berths 7 and 8 at Netaji Subhas Dock.
- The project is structured on a 30-year DBFOT basis, allowing the company to finance, operate and transfer the upgraded facilities under a public-private partnership model.
- Construction is slated for completion in two years, with provisional cargo handling operations to begin during the build phase to leverage Kolkata’s steady volumes.
- Upon full commissioning, the enhanced terminal will raise JSW’s container handling capacity to nearly one million TEUs and boost operational efficiency.
- This facility represents JSW Infra’s second east-coast terminal after Paradip and underpins its strategy to expand India’s container network as part of the government’s port privatisation drive.
