Josh Naylor Exits Early with Shoulder Soreness

  • Josh Naylor grimaced through his plate appearances and left the third inning of Thursday’s series finale against the White Sox with right shoulder soreness, manager Dan Wilson said.
  • Since joining Seattle on July 23, Naylor has slashed .261/.320/.478 with three home runs in 13 games and gone 10-for-10 in stolen-base attempts, leading MLB.
  • Veteran Donovan Solano, inactive since July 24, took over at first base in the fourth inning after Naylor’s exit.
  • Naylor first experienced right shoulder discomfort on June 23 with the Diamondbacks but avoided an injured list stint and returned two days later.
  • On Friday, MLB Network insider Jon Morosi reported there is “good optimism” that Naylor will return sooner rather than later pending further medical evaluation.
