Joseph Morales Submits Matt Schnell in First Round at UFC Vegas 111 Co-Main

Fresh off his TUF 33 triumph, the Team Alpha Male flyweight turns a dominant return into a push toward Alexandre Pantoja.

Overview

  • Morales defeated Schnell by guillotine choke at 2:54 of Round 1 in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 264 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on November 8.
  • After an early Schnell takedown, Morales reversed to side control, threatened a kimura, moved to a crucifix, and then locked the fight-ending choke.
  • The win advances Morales to 14-2 overall with a reported 3-2 mark in the UFC following his The Ultimate Fighter Season 33 title earlier this year.
  • Schnell falls to 17-10 and has now dropped four of his past five bouts after briefly halting a skid with an April decision over Jimmy Flick.
  • Post-fight, Morales asked the UFC to stage a card in Sacramento and said he believes he matches up well with flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja.
