Joseph Gray Jailed for Six Years for Nunthorpe Shooting and Car Arson

  • Gray, 43, pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court on January 12 to arson with intent to endanger life and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
  • In the early hours of May 15, 2025, he fired multiple shots at a house on Collingham Drive in Nunthorpe and set a BMW on the driveway alight.
  • Investigators traced him on CCTV about 40 minutes later at a Thirsk service station wearing the same clothing and driving the same vehicle seen at the scene.
  • He told the court he had been hired to carry out the attack, and no injuries were reported from the shooting or the car fire.
  • Cleveland Police said two other men arrested during the inquiry have been released with no further action.
