Overview
- IIT Roorkee announced JEE Advanced 2026 results on June 1, and JoSAA counselling for the 2026 admission cycle opened on June 2 with choice filling open through June 11.
- JoSAA’s 2026 seat matrix raises total Computer Science and Engineering seats across the 23 IITs by 54 to 2,183, with the largest single-campus increases at IIT Palakkad and IIT Jammu (+10 each).
- IIT Bombay remains the largest single-campus CSE provider with 199 seats while modest rises were also recorded at IIT ISM Dhanbad and a one-seat increase at IIT Bombay compared with 2025 figures.
- Multiple IITs have added new interdisciplinary undergraduate programmes in areas such as artificial intelligence, design, computational engineering and biomedical technology that appear in the 2026 admission lists.
- Competition will remain intense for top branches because the seat rise is small relative to demand, and the first mock allocations are scheduled for June 8 and June 10 before Round 1 allotments on June 13.
