Overview

• Official JoSAA tallies show 73 of the top 100 JEE Advanced rankers chose IIT Bombay, 19 chose IIT Delhi, and six chose IIT Madras, which marks Madras’s best top‑100 intake in five years despite its NIRF No. 1 status.
• In the top 5000 cohort, IIT Bombay led with 755 students, followed by IIT Delhi at 577 and IIT Madras at 478.
• Other legacy campuses attracted large shares of high rankers, including IIT Kharagpur with 517, IIT Kanpur with 448, and IIT Roorkee with 429.
• Newer or smaller campuses recorded more modest numbers, with IIT Guwahati at 305, IIT BHU Varanasi at 258, IIT Hyderabad at 222, and IIT Indore at 109.
• IIT Bombay’s appeal among the top 100 has climbed from 58 in 2020 to the low 70s in 2024–2025, while IIT Delhi has consistently ranked second across recent admission cycles.
