Joost Luiten Loses Three Clubs in Tree at DP World Tour Championship

  • Luiten, frustrated after making a bogey, threw his driver at a tree where it got stuck. In an attempt to retrieve it, he threw two more clubs which also got stuck.
  • Luiten, his caddy, and a tournament official tried to retrieve the clubs, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Luiten continued the game with 11 clubs.
  • A tournament volunteer eventually managed to retrieve the clubs and they were returned to Luiten by his eight-month-pregnant wife, Melanie-Jane.
  • Luiten finished the championship three-over-par, placing third from the bottom.
