Jonathan van Tulleken to Direct First Two Episodes of 'Blade Runner 2099' on Prime Video

The new installment in the Blade Runner franchise, set to begin filming in April, will continue the story 80 years after the original film.

Jonathan van Tulleken, known for directing 'Shōgun,' takes over as director of 'Blade Runner 2099,' replacing Jeremy Podeswa due to scheduling conflicts.
The series is a sequel to both the 1982 'Blade Runner' and the 2017 'Blade Runner 2049,' and will explore themes of free will and environmentalism.
Ridley Scott, director of the original 'Blade Runner,' will executive produce the series, which does not yet have a release date.
Filming for the series is scheduled to begin in April 2024, with no cast announcements made so far.
'Blade Runner 2099' aims to uphold the intellectual and thematic legacy of its predecessors, with Silka Luisa serving as showrunner.
