Jonas Eidevall Named San Diego Wave Head Coach Following Arsenal Exit

The former Arsenal manager takes on a new challenge in the NWSL after departing the WSL club in October.

Jonas Eidevall has been appointed as the head coach of San Diego Wave FC on a three-year deal, succeeding interim coaches Paul Buckle and Landon Donovan.
Eidevall resigned from Arsenal in October 2024 after a poor start to the season, ending a tenure that included two Women's League Cup titles and a Champions League semifinal appearance.
San Diego Wave, which finished 10th in the 2024 NWSL standings, is looking to rebuild under new ownership by the Levine Leichtman family.
Eidevall expressed enthusiasm for the Wave's vision and aims to create a winning legacy with the team, which includes USWNT stars Naomi Girma and Jaedyn Shaw.
Tensions between Eidevall and USWNT manager Emma Hayes remain unresolved, stemming from a public altercation during their time as rival managers in the Women's Super League.
